new page!!

i added my contributions to ilounge's art & photo contests to the ipod section. the last one ("ipod countdown contest") is still open, so there's still hope to see some new shure earphones... ;)

UPDATE: hmm, no shure headphones for me...

so, after a pretty long testing phase, the new site design is ready!

you can now see a quick overview of the entire site on the starting page for easier navigation. there is a location info field so you can always know exactly where in the site you are. i changed the guestbook service, everything should be up and running.
if you run into trouble just drop me a note.

the move to the new host calls for an improvement of the site's basic source using asp (which arcor didn't support). while translating the site to asp i will also improve the layout to make it friendlier and easier to navigate.

my article "Is LEGO still LEGO?" has been published.
it focuses on and analyzes some (in my opinion) negative aspects of the LEGO Company's evolution. any feedback from readers would be appreciated.

some of the site's forums now have an english and a german version. the others have been kept as one bilingual forum.

it looks like format c: is down at the moment.
according to arcor (my host) it's due to traffic excess, but i doubt i have surpassed the 1gb/month quota. i hope the site is back up again ASAP and will keep you informed on the matter.

UPDATE (2006-01-20): I have signed up at Somee.com and will be testing the site there for a while. I might need to redesign it slightly because Somee displays some small Google ads on each page. So expect to see some improvements in the not so far future.

today at 1:20 PM, the site's counter registered the 10000th visitor.
it took a long time to reach this number but it's a good sign that format c: has made it this far, and i hope the click rate will increase even further.

while browising the web i came up with this AWESOME lego creation.
i'm sure you all know what it's about, but i've posted a comparison pic, anyway.

if you look at the lego mindstorms website, you'll see a video showing the new "mindstorms nxt" system. it has a new microprocessor, and new sensors (specifically ultrasonic distance and sound sensors). it departs from standard lego techniques and uses completely studless designs, which you might or might not like (i don't).
the colors are now white, grey and orange and everything has smooth curves, looking less and less like lego.
